Seaside Park

Seaside Park – 14th Avenue:

Launch from either side of the fishing pier. The 5’ retaining wall on the southern side can be a little tricky to maneuver around. Beware of lots of rocks and old boat moorings in the area. There’s a nice sand bar south of the pier to beachstart from. You may be able to stand one mile out. Launch is good for beginners. Weed fins are essential in the summer. Summer thermals (sea breezes) are common. Be aware of boats in boat channel.   A half-mile reach to the south will bring you into what is known as “The Flats”, where it can be waist deep for miles.

Directions:

Driving Take Garden State Parkway to exit 82. Get on NJ Rt. 37 East and travel 6.7 miles over the bridge onto the barrier island and to a fork.  At the fork, bear right onto NJ Rt. 35 South, Seaside Park, Central Ave.  About 1 mile past fork, you will see a 7-11 on your right. Proceed to 13th Ave. & Turn Right. (Public Restrooms are at the DPW building on your right). Continue to N. Bayview Ave., Turn Left. Entrance to parking lot is on the right.

South Seaside Park – The Flats at IBSP Marina

Launch from the south side of the boat docks. Water is mostly waist to chest deep for miles. You may be able to stand one mile out. Launch is good for beginners. Weed fins are essential in the summer. Summer thermals (sea breezes) are common. This site is on the endangered list and while the marina is pretty much out of business, this is the new hot-spot for windsurfing on windy days.
